Alpaca Fiber
Allen's Ridge Ranch raises Huacaya alpacas with soft fleece. Alpaca fleece lacks the barbs that make wool scratchy. Its fiber structure yields lightweight cloth, yet it remains an excellent insulator. The fleece is used to make gloves, sweaters, blankets, and other woven or knit items.
Alpaca fleece also lacks lanolin, making it a hypoallergenic alternative to other fleeces. The Allens are members of the National Alpacas Owners and Breeders Association. Learn more about alpaca fiber on our Fiber Facts page. |
